Using PodWalk

What is PodWalk?

PodWalk turns any place you name into a guided audio walking tour. Type a city, a neighbourhood, or a village down the road, and PodWalk plans a real route, researches the area, and narrates each stop in a warm voice — usually about a minute from a name in the search bar to a play button on your phone.

Where can I create a walk?

Almost anywhere with streets and a story. PodWalk doesn’t rely on someone having already recorded a tour for a place — it writes one on demand. That means it works for famous cities and for the small, overlooked places guidebooks skip.

How long does it take to generate a tour?

Usually around a minute. Writing a walk involves planning the route, researching the area, drafting the narration, and synthesising the voice. You can close the app while it works — we’ll notify you the moment your walk is ready.

How long are the walks?

You choose. Walks run from about 15 to 60 minutes, and you can set the length and the themes you care about — history, architecture, hidden gems, food — when you create one.

Which languages does PodWalk support?

PodWalk is available in English, Dutch, French, Spanish, and German, with tour narration generated in the language you choose.

On the walk

Do I need headphones and an internet connection?

Headphones make for the best experience but aren’t required. You need a connection to generate a new tour. Once a walk is ready, you can download it and walk it without any signal at all.

Can I use PodWalk offline?

Yes. Download a tour before you head out and its audio, map, and images are stored on your device, so the whole walk works offline. You can keep several downloaded walks ready at once.

How does the “play as you arrive” feature work?

With location permission granted, PodWalk detects when you reach each stop — even with your screen locked — and starts that stop’s narration automatically. No tapping, no fiddling, just walking and listening. See how location is used in our Privacy Policy.

How accurate are the tours?

Tours are generated automatically, so while we work hard to keep them reliable, details can occasionally be incomplete or out of date. Use your own judgement while walking — obey local laws and traffic, and stay aware of your surroundings.

Account & pricing

Do I need an account?

You can start using PodWalk right away — no sign-up wall. Signing in with Apple or Google lets your library and progress follow you across devices and reinstalls.

How much does it cost?

You can try PodWalk and start walking for free. Paid passes unlock more, with the current price and terms shown in the app at the point of purchase. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your device’s account settings — see our support page for the steps.

Which devices does PodWalk run on?

PodWalk is built for iPhone and Android phones. On iPhone it also supports Live Activities, so your current stop and progress show on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
