Most audio-tour apps ship pre-recorded tours of the same 30 famous cities. PodWalk was built on a different idea: that every place with streets and a story deserves a walk — your hometown, a coastal village, the neighbourhood no guidebook has bothered with. So instead of recording tours one city at a time, PodWalk writes one for wherever you point at, on demand.

Why we built it
A guide for everywhere, not just the famous few.
The best walks are often in the places that never made it onto a tour roster. We wanted a way to hear their stories too — without waiting for someone to record them first. PodWalk reads the maps, digs into the history, plots a real route, and narrates each stop in a warm voice, usually about a minute from a name in the search bar to a play button on your phone.

Under the hood
How a walk comes together
Typing a place and getting a finished tour takes about a minute. A fair amount happens in that minute — here's the short version.
Route. PodWalk pulls the real street network from OpenStreetMap and plots a walkable loop with a stop every few minutes — no dead ends, no dashing across a motorway.
Research. Each stop is researched from Wikipedia, Wikivoyage and open map data, so the narration is grounded in what's actually in front of you — not generic filler.
Writing. Every stop gets a script written to be heard while walking: short, vivid, and focused on the things you'd miss if no one pointed them out.
Voice. It's narrated in a warm, natural voice — in English, Dutch, French, Spanish or German — and mixed to sit easy in your ears at walking pace.
Ready. The finished walk lands in your library. Download it and the whole thing — audio, route map, and images — works fully offline.
What we believe
Every place has a story
Fame isn't the same as interest. A canal-side street or a hill village can out-walk a headline city — it just needs someone to tell you where to look.
No subscriptions, ever
You pay once for the walks you actually make, nothing auto-renews, and the walks stay yours. We'd rather you come back because you want to.
The app should disappear
The point is the place, not the phone. Audio starts itself as you arrive and plays with the screen locked, so you can keep your eyes up.
